The Ladies of Almack's are shocked to discover that someone is vandalizing the pictures at the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition: the portraits and landscapes are being subtly altered to make malicious fun of the head of the Exhibition, Sir Henry Hebbly, and his wife.
Annabel knows the Hebblys: Sir Henry is a bit of a bully, but who could wish to hurt his darling wife? The Ladies' talents—especially her shadow-shaping abilities—will solve the case, but are the culprits Annabel catches the ones truly at fault?
